We collect what the app needs to work and nothing else. You choose how much location to share, separately for each community. We don't sell data, we don't run ad trackers, and when you delete your account, your data actually gets deleted.
If you join the waitlist: your email address. We use it to invite you, nothing else.
If you have an account: your phone number, because it's how you log in, and whatever you put in your profile. Your name, a photo, a line about yourself, your hometown, the messenger handles you choose to list.
Location: whatever you share, at the level you picked. Your exact spot, just your city, or nothing at all. Each community only ever sees the level you chose for it.
Things you write: weekly intentions, notes about places, gatherings you post. All of it visible only to the communities you shared it with.
No contact-list uploads. No movement history, we keep your latest shared location, not a trail. No ad identifiers. No analytics companies watching you read this page.
Presence on SameOrbit fades on its own. If you go quiet, the app shows that you went quiet. It doesn't go looking for you.
Only the communities you're in. There's no public profile, no search, and no way for a stranger to find you. That's not a setting you have to find, it's how the thing is built.
We're a small operation, so a few services do the heavy lifting:
That's the whole list. Nobody pays us for your data, and we don't pay anyone with it.
A session cookie keeps you logged in. There's nothing else.
Delete your account and your data goes with it: profile, locations, notes, the lot. If you're on the waitlist and want off, email us and we'll remove you.
SameOrbit isn't built for children under 16.
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we'll tell you in plain words before it takes effect. Not a forty-page diff.
